Austin police are investigating a woman’s claims that she and a friend tried to rob a man who offered to pay her money for sex after seeing her ad offering erotic massages on CraigsList. Police say the man was cut with a knife and nearly lost a finger in the attack. The incident began about 10:30 p.m. on May 13 when the man was standing in line at a hot dog cart at Sixth and Trinity streets downtown.
Police say the crime appears to be isolated but say another group of women is known to be working the downtown area, befriending men and then drugging and robbing them.
“The common theme in all this is these men are connecting with strange females that — I don’t want to say seducing, them — but they’re coming in and talking with them and the guys are going with them,” Perry said.
